Grade 1 News
**We will be dismissing at 1:30 on Thursday. Also, homework is due on Thursday this week, as there is no school on Friday. Our spelling words this week are saw, raw, awful, sauce, pause.

In Literacy we did some riddles using our word wall. For example-"This word starts with a "b", has one vowel and means large. What word am I thinking of and how do you spell it?" We also started talking about words that have aw/au in them and the sound that they make. We continued talking about using Voice in our writing. It is important to know who you are writing for. We practiced this by drawing a picture of our audience and then writing a message to them.

In Math we worked on a subtraction investigation together as a class. Then we used the geoboards to make shapes, such as trapezoids, squares, rectangles and triangles.

In Journal Writing we edited some sentences, fixing punctuation, capitals, and spelling. Then we wrote in our journals to Miss Guptill.
