Into the Swing of Things...

Welcome to the Grade 1 blog!  We hope that you will check it out weekly.  This year your child has two regular teachers for Grade 1.  Mrs. GG will be teaching Language Arts and You and Your World; and Mrs. Green will be teaching Math, French, Art, and Reading Club.  Both teachers will update this blog with info each week.

Language Arts
This week we will continue with our introduction to the Daily 5 program.  This program focuses on independant reading and building stamina so that eventually the teacher will be able to work with smaller groups and individual students. 

This week your child will be bringing home spelling words in their agenda.  These are the words that will be on the spelling test on Friday.  Please practice them! 

Your child will also be bringing home a homework folder.  This will be his/her homework for the week.  It will be due on Friday.

One last thing coming home tonight is the reading log and a book to read.  It is important that your child read at least one book each night.  After they read it, they should record it in their reading log.  Please send the bag and book back daily so we can put a new book in.

You and Your World
Throughout the month of September we will be working on bullying.
